DC88 Cari Lekebusch and Joseph Capriati - Missed Flight

Just released this past week from Drumcode is DC88 featuring Cari Lekebusch and Joseph Capriati. The first two tunes on here are collaborations by Lekebusch and Capriati. Missed flight is a very uptempo tune with a tech-house feel. Very fun and very danceable with its eerie and drone-like sound. Napoli-4AM is another tech-house sounding track that is a bit more on the melodic and soft side. The last two tunes are by Lekebusch. Entanglement is also has that tech-house feel and is a bit more simple in its arrangement, almost a bit minimal. Rockturner adopts more of that straight-forward techno sound with a slight hint of a relentless beat. It's also got some nice sounding experimental sounds and is a bit more off-beat with some psychedelic sound to it. Definitely check out these tunes and buy them; you won't be disappointed.

15 Years of Drumcode Release

"It's not an easy thing to do over a 15 year period—to maintain an interesting, updated formula of something you started fifteen years ago," commented Adam Beyer on his label Drumcode in a recent interview. Since 1996, Drumcode has grown to become an institution in the global techno scene, encompassing a radio program, an event series, and, most importantly, a home for the musical vision of its artists and founder. First founded by Beyer to self-release his own records, Drumcode is currently placed alongside the most influential techno imprints, and ranked among the world's best. "15 Years of Drumcode" not only celebrates this legacy, it propels the label further with a fresh injection of new and unreleased tracks from some of techno's finest producers.

In typical Drumcode fashion, "15 Years of Drumcode" celebrates the past by focusing on the present. There are no throwbacks, rehashings, or even remixes of the label's classic tracks. Instead, the 28-track compilation showcases only the newest and most exciting work of Drumcode's current roster, cascading between tough, thumping techno and housier, atmospheric arrangements. Yet even with its heavy variety, each track displays the kind of no-nonsense attitude that has become a hallmark of Drumcode's sound.

Ida Engberg - Producer and DJ

The first time I heard of Ida Engberg was when I came across a CLR podcast. I was very impressed with her selection of tracks that ranged from tech-house to techno. I love the hard and dark side of techno, but I also love the laid back style that still gets me dancing. That's exactly what her sound of choice is like -- lots of grooves and laid back yet hard hitting tracks. Not only does she DJ at the Cocktail Club in Stockholm, Sweden, but she has also produced tracks that have come out on Pickadoll Records, West Recordings, Truesoul and Drumcode.

Phillip Kipphan Displaced EP on Blind Spot Music (BSM010)

After listening to my previous post's mix about 5 times, I just couldn't get enough of the last track. So I thought I'd give it its own post to help promote it. It's on the Displaced EP which came out not to long ago. The EP contains three tracks: Displaced, LofiTech and Blind. I won't bother trying to describe the sound but I will say that it is very dark, moody, industrial and atmospheric with a bouncy driving deep beat. It's the type of sound that I like to hear at 3am in a dark room with hundreds of other people on a dance floor. This EP also marks the one year anniversary of the Blind Spot Music record label.

Preview the sound and buy the tracks from here:

Sad to say, but this is the last show that Dr. Hoffmann will do where he opens up the show with one of his own sets. He ends his run with a very very good hard set. Take a listen for yourself. His guest is the welll known Chris Liebing from Germany. Liebing has his own record label, CLR, and his own CLR podcast. Both feature a wide array of techno producers and djs. I don't have the tracklistings since both of these sets were recorded live from parties.

Basement Jaxx Remix of Vampire Weekend - White sky

Basement Jaxx have been producing house tracks since the 90s and there sound is always very uplifting and is always different. You never know if its going to be more on the funky side of house or on the tech house side. I love tech house.. so Yahoo! for this track. They seriously lay down the law with this summer track that is both techno and very uplifting. I'm surprised I barely discovered it until now consider it came out last summer, and damn did it make the hair stand up on the back of my neck. I really thank Basement Jaxx for this gift of a song.

Richie Hawtin live sets @ Tokyo, France and Miami 2011

Anyone who knows techno has definitely heard of Ritchie Hawtin. He has been a staple in the techno seen since the early 90's. Of course he is also known as Plastikman, the live minimal techno producer. I was able to track down three of his live sets that show just how varied his sound really is. On the far far left, from France, we have a very experimental type of set that you would expect to hear from Plastikman. If you're looking for those abstract and strange beats n rhythms, you need to check out that set. On the far right, we have his set from Miami. A very uptempo, pounding, peak-hour techno set that would be very typical in a club at 2 AM. Right in the middle, we have his Tokyo set. Its not all upbeat, pouding or even experimental, but it's more tech-house with a bit of techno sprinkled in there to add a moody element to the set. Whatever your flavor, you're sure to enjoy either one of these sets if you're a Hawtin fan or a connoisseur of techno in general. Enjoy.

Dr. Hoffmann's Blindspot Radio Show presents Luke Slater.

Although this isn't the most recent show, this mix definitely had to be put up for everyone to check. This week Dr. Hoffman welcomes Luke Slater from Redding, England. He set up his own label, Mote-Evolver, in 2006 and also releases music under the moniker Planetary Assault System. In this mix, Luke drops tracks that are more on the twisted side but with a slightly minimalistic beat. Don't get be wrong though, the beat will pound your subs. Sad to say, but the tracklist is not available. The set was recorded live at a secret location. Of course, as always, Dr. Hoffmann opens the show with a hard, bangin, one-hour mix.
